In a lethargic encounter lacking moments of quality for the best part, midfielder Casper De Norre would strike the only goal of the game. The Belgian punishing indecision in the Swans defense to fire home from close range midway through the second half.
This would be after Williams’ side would have a golden opportunity to take the lead minutes earlier. Matt Grimes would see his penalty saved by visiting goalkeeper Matija Sarkic after Ronald was brought down by Lions captain Jake Cooper.
As frustrations kicked in, both sides would finish with ten men as Swans forward Jerry Yates would see red mist for a punch on Lions centre back Japhet Tanganga, whilst the on-loan Tottenham Hotspur defender would also be led off the pitch for violent conduct in the melee.
The match would peter out disappointingly as the Swans four game unbeaten end to the season would be broken as they would finish in 14th, two points below Millwall with Williams admitting he has a busy summer ahead.

“If anyone felt there wasn’t work to do, they must be crazy. This is another example of why we need to improve, this was a winnable game,” said Williams.
“I’m very frustrated. I think there wasn’t too much in the game in terms of goalmouth stuff. It’s obvious we dominated the game with the ball, but we didn’t cause enough issues with the ball.
“We need to be more clinical, concede fewer chances, create more, it’s as simple as that because much of the performance suggested we should be able to do that, but we didn’t. We fluffed our lines.
“We take the ball off the opposition pretty well and we’re able to build up well with the ball and get to the final third, but we need to find more solutions to scoring goals.
“When the opposition are so far from your goal, you should be able to concede less shots against. It’s not a good performance and unfortunately, we missed a penalty and I think at that point the game hinges on who scores first.
“It’s a disappointing way to end, but we have to draw the line under this season and look forward to the next one.”
