In a game of two halves, the Swans would be at their attacking best at times in the first-half to take a two-goal lead into the interval.
Joe Allen’s early header got the ball rolling before Jamie Paterson’s sixth league goal of the season satisfied the home faithful looking to see a first home win under the former Notts County boss at the fifth attempt.
Blackburn would improve in the second-half and would get back into the game through the league’s top scorer Sami Szmodics’ close-range finish.
But the Swans would respond well with a robust and resolute defensive showing to protect their lead and earn a crucial three points to the delight of their manager.

“I’m so pleased with the boys. It was more anxious than I would have liked, but I’m proud of how courageous they were in the game’s latter stages,” said Williams.
“I’m so grateful for those moments where they put their bodies on the line.
“Ben Cabango came off with both knees shredded with blood down his socks. He looked like a proper old-school centre half.
“He can head the ball further than I can kick it. He was incredible and you have to have those guys, those warriors.
“Last week we saw Carl Rushworth make a save in the last seconds of the game and smash into the goal post.
“He’s got that in him, and Kyle Naughton made that incredible block today, they have that character.
“Back-to-back wins are great because we can start to build confidence and belief. There is nothing better than arriving at the ground and feeling like we have a great chance to win.
“We have to try and keep turning out performances that warrant a win and keep getting the job done so we can be optimistic about the future and not be worrying about something worse than is considering.
“Today we started really strong which pleased me, but we need to improve how we attack a lead, rather than defend one. That is the idea that I’m going for.
“This is the bit we need to improve, seeing a game out in a more comfortable way but that is a really challenging thing to achieve.
“It was a really good feeling [to win]. The fans have been so great after we have played games and we have lost.
“The first home league win is important. We have to create a nice atmosphere for them and give them more that they can buy into.
“They have shown so much love to us and that is incredible. It is better when you’re sharing celebrations together and today that felt special.”
