A bouncy castle and soft play area are among the activities being laid on for a community day in Mayhill and Waun Wen on Thursday (August 12).

Residents of all ages are being invited to join in the fun at The Green off Long Ridge Road between 11am and 4pm.

The event has been organised by the Safer Swansea Partnership which is made up of Swansea Council, South Wales Police, the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and other partners and representatives from all will be joining in on the day.

Swansea Council leader Rob Stewart said: “Swansea Council has always been there for the people of Mayhill, Waun Wen and Townhill.

We are investing heavily in sports, leisure, environmental and businesses improvements in these communities as are in all others across Swansea.

“As part of our Covid recovery plan we are creating apprenticeships jobs and opportunities for people across Swansea.

“Following the isolated night of disturbance earlier this year we have been discussing with residents what more we could do and that is where the idea of a community fun day to bring the whole community together has come from.

“We are working with all our Safer Swansea partners to stage this event and make it a fun day to remember and showcase these brilliant communities.

“We hope as many people as possible from these areas come along and enjoy these free activities and entertainment.

“Our community safety team, along with police, fire service and other agencies will be attending so if anyone has any issues or concerns they wish to raise they will be able to do so. “But the whole emphasis will be on fun and I hope to see you all there.”
