Budget retailer Poundland has confirmed it is returning to Swansea’s Oxford Street in September.
It’s previous store in the former Woolworth’s at 242 Oxford Street closed in April. That building is set to be transformed as part of ambitious plans for a biophilic building complete with apartments, greenhouses, retail and office space.
You won’t have to look to hard to find Poundland’s newest offering however as it will be directly opposite its old store, in rival discounter Poundstretcher’s former premises at 18 Oxford Street.
The company announced the plans in typical tongue-in-cheek fashion on social media, taking aim at the controversial ‘Marble Arch Mound’ on Oxford Street in London which has attracted a barrage of criticism for its design, entry cost, as well as being only partly complete when open.
The company shared an ‘artists’ impression’ of the ‘mountains of savings’ that will be available at the new Swansea Oxford Street store.
