Tips on saving energy, accessing funding and how to make the most of social media will be among those available for Swansea businesses at a free event next month.

Organised by Swansea Council, the in-person event taking place at Sketty Hall on Thursday November 10 will include eight, 50-minute sessions run by local business experts.

Lasting from 1pm to 5pm, other topics being covered at the event include the basics of procurement and how best to write a 60-second pitch.

The seminars are part of the power hour series of events the council’s business engagement team has been running for the last 18 months, which have already benefited hundreds of businesses across Swansea.

Experts leading the seminars at the Sketty Hall event include Stephen Bell from Business in Focus, Paul Carrol and Elgan Richards from Business Wales, Lee Morgan from Natwest, Emily Wood from the Development Bank of Wales, Rebecca Wade from Purple Dog, and Tony Dowling from Real Inbound Marketing.

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Investment, Regeneration and Tourism, said: “Swansea has so much entrepreneurial talent, but it’s sometimes difficult for our businesses to find all the support they need in one place – whether that’s signposting them to funding that’s potentially available, showing them how they can save on their energy bills or referring them onto other organisations that can help.

“That’s why our business engagement team has been working closely with partners across the city to organise events of this kind, which are now more needed than ever as residents and businesses emerge from the pandemic to the challenges of the energy and cost of living crisis.”

Responding to the needs of the local business community, a dedicated breakout room for networking is also being made available at the Sketty Hall event for all businesses and expert speakers in attendance.

Funded by the UK Government’s Community Renewal Fund, businesses interested in attending the event are asked to head to www.bit.ly/PowerHourNovember to pre-register.
