Specialist search and rescue crew called to Swansea garden to rescue dog trapped under building
Dramatic photos show how specialist search and rescue firefighters dug out Jock, a small black poodle trapped under a Gower property.
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service say their firefighters from Swansea West fire station were called to a property at Parkmill on Gower at 7.11am on Tuesday (23 April).
The fire service say a small black poodle dog had become trapped under a property of “non-standard construction”.
Due to the confined space and inability to locate the dog’s exact location, the Wales Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Team was requested to attend.
A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews removed a large quantity of patio slabs and earth at the rear of the property for access and started digging a tunnel under the property’s kitchen.
“The USAR Team used ‘Delsar’ listening and seismic detection equipment and technical search cameras to pinpoint the dog’s exact location. A second access point was created through the property’s kitchen floor.
“Crews successfully managed to rescue Jock, a three-year-old black Poodle, who was alive and well, and was reunited with his owner.”
