Cwmavon Post Office could be set to move
Cwmavon’s Post Office could be on the move after the resignation of the current postmaster.
The Post Office says it is proposing to relocate Cwmavon Post Office to a new location – Premier Express at Tyr Owen Stores in Cwmavon.
It is also proposing new longer opening hours , with the new facility open an extra six hours a week.
The proposed move is due to the current building being unavailable after the resignation of the existing postmaster.
A spokesperson from the Post Office said: “The current postmaster at 5 Tyr Owen Row, Cwmavon, Port Talbot, SA12 9BE, has resigned and the premises would be withdrawn for Post Office use.
“However, we are pleased to inform you that a new operator has been appointed, who has identified an alternative location to operate Cwmavon Post Office.
“There would be a Post Office serving point at the retail counter of the convenience store. The same range of products and services would still be available.
“There would be new opening hours: Monday to Friday: 9am – 3pm. This would offer an extra six hours of Post Office service a week, with longer hours than currently on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
“Consultation is now open with the opportunity to give feedback on the move and access into and within the store will close on 11 June. Customers can share their views during the consultation online at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 280642.
