Bridgend rapist jailed for 15 years
A Bridgend man who sexually assaulted a woman while she was drunk and recorded it on his phone to show his flatmate, has been jailed for 15 years.
25-year-old Steffan Jones, from Bridgend was jailed for the rape and assault of two victims.
A trial at Cardiff Crown Court heard he sexually assaulted one of his victims while she was naked, drunk, and vomiting into a wash basin after he tricked her in a drinking game.
He recorded the attack on his phone to watch it back and show his flatmate.
The arrest and charge followed a joint investigation with Dyfed-Powys Police.
Jones was found guilty at trial of one count of rape and two counts of assault by penetration.
Judge David Wynn Morgan said of Jones, “Your victim was blind drunk as a result of you callously tricking her in a drinking game.
“That, I’m afraid, is the person you really are – a sexual predator, a liar, and a narcissist. Not the paragon described in the multitude of character references that have been gathered on your behalf.”
Following the conviction, Detective Sergeant Andrew Coakley from South Wales Police commented,“Jones is a vile rapist who is now where he deserves to be. I applaud the two victims for having an extreme amount of courage to bring their complaint forward and ensure the conviction of their attacker.”
