SINGLETON LIVE: Big-name concerts return to Singleton Park in 2027, and every act promised as a Wales exclusive

Big-name concerts are coming back to Singleton Park, with a new summer series launching in 2027 under the name Singleton Live.

Swansea Council has partnered with promoters Full Fat 360, DEPOT Live and Cuffe & Taylor for the series, and says every artist announced will play a Wales exclusive, making Swansea the only place in the country to catch those shows next year.

Council leader Rob Stewart said: “This is exciting news for Swansea and for music fans across Wales. Singleton Park has been the setting for some incredible live music moments over the years, and creating memories that people still talk about today.

“We’re proud to be bringing major live music back to the park through this new partnership. Swansea is a city with a deep passion for music and Singleton Live will help strengthen that reputation even further.”

A stage with history

The park’s live CV needs little introduction: Stereophonics, Madness, Nile Rodgers and Chic, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have all played there.

In 2018 it hosted BBC Music’s The Biggest Weekend, bringing Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Florence and the Machine to Swansea.

But the biggest outdoor shows have been missing in recent years, something the council itself acknowledged in June, when its draft 10-year events strategy talked openly about re-establishing Swansea as a venue for major gigs.

That plan was candid enough to admit the Wales Airshow was the city’s only established destination event. Three months on, Singleton Live is the first big swing at changing that.

Under the partnership agreement, the council says a percentage of the fees generated will go to Swansea’s grassroots music venues, supporting emerging artists and independent stages.

Stewart said that commitment “means the benefits will be felt right across our grass roots music scene”, calling the series “an exciting new chapter for live music in Swansea”.

Oli Bartlam, founder of Full Fat 360, said: “Singleton Park has an incredible live music heritage, and we’re hugely excited to build on that with something new for Swansea.”

He said the promoters were proud to be working with the council, DEPOT Live and Cuffe & Taylor on a series they believed “can become a major fixture in the UK summer music calendar”.
