The family of a man who died in a collision on the A40 in Carmarthenshire have paid tribute to him, describing themselves as “utterly heartbroken”.
Ashley Wayne Keane, 38, died following the collision between Llandeilo and Nantgaredig at around 4.25pm on Friday 3 July.
Mr Keane was driving the Ford Transit van that collided with a Scania coach on the stretch of the A40 in the Tywi Valley. He died at the scene.
In a statement, his family said: “We are utterly heartbroken by the sudden and tragic loss of Ashley Wayne Keane.”
“He will forever be in our hearts, and as his family — kindly ask for privacy to grieve this devastating loss.”
The tribute was released through Dyfed-Powys Police, with the family being supported by specially trained officers.
The coach was carrying a 14-year-old passenger along with its driver, both of whom were taken to Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen as a precaution with minor injuries.
The A40 was closed in both directions between Llandeilo and Nantgaredig following the collision, with diversions in place around the Dryslwyn area, and emergency services including an air ambulance attended the scene.
The force’s investigation continues, and its appeal for witnesses stands — with anyone travelling on the road at the time asked to check dashcam footage.

The crash was the third fatal collision on Carmarthenshire’s roads in less than a fortnight. A motorcyclist died in a four-vehicle crash on the A40 between St Clears and Whitland on 21 June.
A 48-year-old man died the following Sunday in a collision between two motorcycles on the A4069 near Brynamman.
