Ammanford AFC are building towards the biggest season in the club’s history, with a new kit, a clutch of signings and the return of a promotion hero all confirmed ahead of their Cymru Premier bow.
The Ammanford AFC side climbed into the top flight of Welsh football for the first time in more than 80 years last season, and pre-season has been about arming themselves for the step up.
Chief among the good news for supporters is the return of attacking midfielder Matty Delaney, who has signed on for another campaign at the Recreation Ground.
Delaney was the standout of Ammanford’s promotion season, taking both the supporters’ and managers’ player-of-the-year awards after arriving last summer.
The 26-year-old scored five times in 27 appearances — none more important than a 93rd-minute winner away at Cwmbran Celtic that sealed promotion and sparked wild celebrations.
“There was no hesitation for me to sign with the tight-knit group of players, staff and support that this club has,” Delaney said of his decision to stay.
No stranger to the region, Delaney has previously played for Llanelli Town and Carmarthen Town, as well as Goodwick in his native Pembrokeshire, before his move to Ammanford.
He is not the only piece of squad business. The club has brought in Joe Hopkins from Llanelli Town, Elliot Scotcher from Haverfordwest County and Gruffydd Morgan from Cardiff Met.
There have been departures too, with Alex Giardelli moving on to Afan Lido and Morgan Clarke also leaving the Recreation Ground.
Off the pitch, the club has unveiled new home and away kits through a fresh partnership with Macron Cardiff, who take over as kit supplier.

The home shirt keeps faith with the club’s heritage — the classic black-and-white vertical stripes that have defined Ammanford for generations.
The away strip is the bigger change, moving away from recent seasons’ bottle green to a turquoise design with navy trim.
The kits carry the backing of a string of local firms as front-of-shirt and short sponsors, with the club also continuing to carry the badge of the Jac Lewis Foundation, a charity rooted in the community.
Chairman Rob Thomas said the club’s sponsors reflected its core principles as it stepped up to a wider audience, describing the top-flight campaign ahead as a new chapter in Ammanford’s history.
Both kits were due to be shown to supporters for the first time at the club’s annual meeting, before going on sale through Macron Cardiff.
