Swansea Council has pulled the plug on a Magic Mike-style male strip show that was due at the Brangwyn Hall on Saturday.

A spokesperson for Swansea Council said: “We’ve taken the decision not to go ahead with Saturday’s Magic Men show at the Brangwyn Hall following concerns raised with us.”

It did not say who raised the concerns, or what they were.

Magic Men star Will Parfitt says he was told the show was “too raunchy”

The show’s star, Will Parfitt, says he only found out it was off when fans started messaging him to ask why.

The 36-year-old, whose fans have compared him to Channing Tatum for years, says the reason he was given was that the show was “too raunchy”.

He says Swansea was one of only two Welsh dates on the tour, and that he is gutted for fans who had booked hotels to travel to it.

The cancellation also hits the performers, who are paid for each show they do, according to Parfitt.

He says Welsh crowds have given the troupe some of its best nights, including a show in north Wales and one in Cardiff two years ago.

Full refunds for Brangwyn Hall ticket holders

The council said ticket holders would get their money back. “We’ve contacted everyone who bought tickets and they will receive a full refund,” the spokesperson said.

They added: “We’re sorry for the disappointment this will cause.”

Parfitt says the team is also trying to move Swansea ticket holders to other dates on the tour, with upgrades where it can.

From a small Australian show to a world tour

Magic Men started out as a small show in Australia and now sells thousands of tickets on tours around the world, according to Parfitt.

This year’s world tour takes in UK venues including Glasgow’s SEC, the Brighton Centre and Newcastle’s O2 City Hall.

Parfitt, who has millions of followers on social media, says the show is nothing like the stereotypes people might have in mind.
