NEATH: Rebuilt Briton Ferry Road Lidl reopens next week, almost double the size

The rebuilt Lidl on Briton Ferry Road reopens on Thursday 13 August, with a ribbon cutting at 8am and a store almost twice the size shoppers left behind.

The store, in the Melyn area of Neath, has been redeveloped on its own site to the discounter’s latest design, and the supermarket is inviting the community to the grand opening celebrations from 8am.

The new store has almost double the sales area of the previous one, Lidl says, promising shoppers greater choice inside.

There is new kit outside too: electric vehicle chargers in the car park, and solar panels on the roof helping to power the store.

Shoppers can expect familiar faces at the tills, with existing staff retained through the rebuild. Lidl says it has served the Neath area for more than 30 years.

The in-store bakery and the Middle of Lidl aisle both survive the redesign.

Opening day comes with sweeteners: complimentary food sampling for early birds, special offers only available at the new store, and exclusive deals through the Lidl Plus app.

“This investment means we can continue serving you the great customer experience you expect from Lidl. We couldn’t be prouder to welcome the community back inside,” he said.

Away from the tills, the store will carry on redistributing surplus food to local charities and food banks through the Feed it Back scheme, run with community giving platform Neighbourly.

The new store will be open 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

The reopening lands in the middle of a Lidl growth push across the region. Last year the discounter named more than a dozen south west Wales locations where it wants new stores, including a second Neath Port Talbot site at Port Talbot East or Margam.

Doors open at 8am next Thursday.
