Bus routes across Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend change from Sunday 30 August, with three Baglan stops dropped from the Margam to NPT College route and Llanelli‘s town buses running later into the afternoon.
First Cymru‘s new timetables run to the end of December, and the company says they bring “more punctual timetables and improved connections”.
The clearest loss falls in Baglan, on the 901 Margam to NPT College route. It is rerouted along Central Avenue, following the same route as the 87, and will no longer serve Baglan Railway Station, Pinewood Terrace or Swan Road.
In Carmarthenshire, the 128 between Ammanford and Llanelli gains a stop and loses one: it will now serve Cross Hands Retail Park via the West Link, but no longer runs via Cefneithin Rugby Club.
The morning 128 shifts too. The 7.13am from Cross Hands will reach Llanelli earlier, which the company says improves connections to Parc Trostre and Prince Philip Hospital.
School-run timings move in the Amman Valley, where the 7.09am 124 from Brynamman to Ammanford goes back ten minutes to 7.19am to fit school start times.
Llanelli’s town network gains at the other end of the day: the L4 to Llundain Fach, L5 to Dafen, L6 to Ty-isha and L7 to Yr Hendy will all run later into the afternoon.
The L3 between Llanelli and Pontarddulais is extended at the start and end of the day, with some trips continuing to Ammanford along the same route as the X13.
The L11 linking Pentre Awel, Llanelli and Kidwelly gets timetable changes for punctuality, with peak departures amended to fit the Coleg Sir Gâr day.
The 195 and 197 between Llanelli and Carmarthen both get slight timetable changes for punctuality. Both are currently running temporary arrangements during the Capel Ifan Road closure at Pontyberem, with those works due to run until 31 August.
In Bridgend, the 68 and 69 Cefn Glas circulars get minor timetable changes.
The X2 between Porthcawl, Bridgend and Cardiff is rerouted at the Cardiff end, running via Ninian Park Road and no longer serving Ely.
The company says that change follows consultation with the local authority, and keeps the service punctual as Cardiff Metro work begins at Cardiff Bay.
The new timetables take effect on Sunday 30 August, with the full list of changes and timetables on First Cymru’s service changes page.
The changes land two days before most schools return from the summer break.
