Starting on Friday May 17, 27-year-old Children’s Support Worker Nick is set to complete 100 laps around Fendord Lake in Llansamlet to complete the incredible distance over a single day.
The kind-hearted Ammanford man, a regular fundraiser for local mental health charity the Jac Lewis Foundation over the last few years is now focusing on his biggest challenge yet.
Having previously run a 4 x 4 x 48 challenge for the Foundation two years ago, an effort consisting of running four miles every four hours for two days – his latest test of endurance will see Nick double the distance in half the time.
Nick’s attempt will begin at 2am on the Friday morning and will finish at the same time in the early hours of Saturday. As part of his training he has run half the distance just a fortnight ago in the Swansea-east location.

“I just completed my 50-miler around Fendord Lake about two weeks ago today. I did it in 10 hours and 47 minutes,” said Nick.
Nick is running for all men who suffer from mental health problems and his grandmother who is fighting cancer.
“The relationship between myself and my grandmother is incredible. She has helped raise me since the age of 12 and I couldn’t have gotten as far as I have without her.
“This had led me through into the navy and through many other obstacles and my own struggles through mental health. She is honestly the most beautiful person I have ever met and had in my life.”

Having been a sufferer with his own mental health in the past, Nick is keen to provide a positive impact, whilst raising awareness for a good cause.
“There’re two charities i’m running for – a local mental health charity [Men United] in Pontardawe for men’s mental health and Macmillan Cancer Support as my grandmother came through stage four cancer,” continued Nick.
“It’s just good to help people. Some people are unable to help themselves. Some people haven’t got family to help themselves and I owned up to struggling with mental health and attempted suicides before.
“So, I know what it feels like to go through certain aspects of it. Particularly blokes, we don’t talk. It’s to get those people help within the community.
“The organisation is new, we’re looking to expand, get people in with therapeutic sessions and hopefully expand further into the likes of Swansea. It’s a good feeling to have.
“I’d like to raise a thousand pound between both and I’ve got £500 in at the moment. I done a charity event two years ago and I raised about £1700 for the Jac Lewis Foundation in Ammanford.
“I’ve put two different links. Some people know people suffering from cancer, some people know people suffering from mental health.
“So, it gives you the choice as a personal discretion towards which one you want to help. The more funding we can raise, the more people we can help with either cancer or mental health.”
