Escape into the Park, held in Singleton Park had previously attracted crowds of 20,000 people, but increases in supplier and artists costs according to organisers Escape Music Events have led to this year’s event being cancelled.

The popular dance event made its return to the city in 2019 after a near decade long hiatus and had brought some of the best DJs from the world of dance music to Swansea in the past.

It previously had run from 1995 to 2011 and saw thousands of ravers attend until it announced a shock cancellation. Once more, for now the event will not be viable to run due to the finacial implications. Organisers, however, are hopeful though it can be revived in the future.

In a statement organisers Escape Music Events said: “Unfortunately after a lot of consideration it is not viable for us to run our 2024 festival at Singleton Park, due to the ongoing cost of living crisis and increases in supplier & artist costs.

“We would like to thank the south Wales dance community for their ongoing support since we returned after the pandemic but for now we say goodbye to Escape for this year,” they said in a statement.

“We still want to put on the show of the summer for you and we take our responsibility for carrying the torch for dance music in Wales extremely seriously, so we will be bringing one of the most iconic names in electronic music to South Wales later this year.
