A man has been charged following the serious assault on St Helen’s Road in Swansea on Thursday morning.
Craig Godfrey, 36, from Waun Wen, has been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent and possession of a sharp pointed article in a public place, South Wales Police said.
He appeared for a first hearing at Swansea Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning.
Section 18 wounding with intent is one of the most serious assault charges, covering wounding or causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Officers were called to St Helen’s Road at around 6:47am on Thursday following a report of a serious assault.
A 40-year-old man from Waun Wen was taken to hospital with what police described as a significant injury. The force said at the time that the two men were understood to be known to each other.
The road was closed in both directions between St Helens roundabout and the Oasis Grill House for much of Thursday morning while emergency services dealt with the incident.
Police said an increased presence would be seen on St Helen’s Road for community reassurance while officers carried out their enquiries.
The road has since reopened.
