Swansea’s third Nando’s has opened its doors in Fforestfach, with the chain saying the new restaurant has created 40 jobs for people in the area.
The peri-peri chicken restaurant began serving customers at Parc Fforestfach on Wednesday, joining the city’s existing branches at Morfa Shopping Park and Wind Street.
The opening date was confirmed last week, with signage and opening posters already up at the retail park unit.
The new restaurant seats 111 inside, and also offers delivery and Click and Collect.
Alongside the usual menu, Nando’s says the Fforestfach branch has a frozen cocktail machine serving its “Crushes” and cocktails.
The chain has also announced a partnership with Faith in Families, the Swansea charity supporting families and children facing poverty, trauma and crisis across Swansea Bay.
Nando’s says the Fforestfach restaurant team will support the charity on an ongoing basis.
The restaurant’s interior follows the chain’s practice of working with South African designers, with ceiling features, geometric wall patterns and Southern African artwork.
Restaurant manager Ross Williams said the team was looking forward to welcoming its first customers. “We’re delighted to be opening the doors to Nando’s new Fforestfach restaurant,” he said.
“We can’t wait to welcome customers to enjoy our famous PERi-PERi and good vibes at this new spot.”
The restaurant, at Unit 3 of the retail park (SA5 4BB), is open 11.30am to 10pm from Sunday to Wednesday, and 11.30am to 10.30pm from Thursday to Saturday.
A Nando’s for the site had been in the pipeline for more than two years, and was referenced in plans for a 24-hour gym at the retail park last year.
The opening is the latest in a wave of chicken chain openings across the area, which has also seen Wingers pick Swansea for its biggest UK restaurant.
The city has form with the brand: a 2023 study crowned a Swansea branch the highest-rated Nando’s in the UK.
And earlier this year Llanelli was named home of Wales’ second best Nando’s in the chain’s own fan vote.
