2.03 – Two‑and-a-half-mile Handicap Hurdle
Miss Kassiopi belatedly shed her maiden tag last time and should be able to defy a 7lb penalty. She had plenty in hand when beating an in form rival that day and all of her best efforts have come at around 2 1/2m on a sound surface.
Yanka Blue has been in good form since going handicapping, and her latest runner-up effort has been boosted by the winner. She can provide the biggest challenge on her return from a break ahead of Polkaface, who has been given a fair opening mark and looks a strong stayer.
2.38 – Two-and-a-half‑mile Handicap Chase
A decent maiden can go to Doujadou, ridden by Sean Bowen for the Rebecca Curtis stable, who travelled powerfully in a strong contest last time, just flattening out late, having refused to settle. That sets the standard, and his debut effort has been franked at the top level, so he should be tough to beat.
Grand Teton wasn’t disgraced in a better race first time out and should appreciate this longer trip. He can fill the places with the more experienced Knead A Win, who should come on for his latest run.
3.13 – Two-mile Novice Hurdle
Novice winner Cinquenta ran well in a hot handicap last time, and a repeat of that should be enough to defy a penalty here. He’s proven over this far, and the better ground can help him see off the steadily progressive My Boy Aaron who will also enjoy conditions.
Ettore showed improved form under a positive ride last time and should have more to offer his top yard. He completes the list of dangers.
3.50 – Two‑and-a-half-mile Handicap Hurdle
Thewoodcorner lacked the speed required over 2 1/4m last time, but can gain some compensation now stepped up in trip. That placed effort took a boost in a Grade 1 at Aintree this week, and he gets to race off 1lb lower here with James Bowen in the saddle, so holds obvious claims.
Mossy Fen Coolio was given a bizarre ride last time but looks to have been let in lightly for his handicap debut as a result. The impressive point winner should have more to offer over hurdles and looks the biggest danger ahead of Manigod, who was a cosy winner on his handicap debut recently.
4.20 – Two‑and-a-half mile Handicap Chase
Boston Joe resumed winning ways over C&D last month and emerged with plenty of credit,, given he had to dig deep to hold on. Those battling qualities will stand him in good stead now attempting to follow up, and his supporters will be pleased to see that local jockey Ben Jones keeps the ride.
L’empire Vert and Just Aidan are others to keep an eye on. Of those at higher prices, Golden Millie is of some interest. She is well treated on her form prior to a layoff and could revive now switched to fences.
4.50 – Three mile Handicap Chase
Bridget Mary bounced back to form when runner-up last time and looks a big danger off just 1lb higher and could give Ben Jones a quick-fire double.
Mythe Bridge couldn’t justify favouritism at Wetherby latest and was quite disappointing on the whole. However, he was still bang in contention when coming to grief three out at Uttoxeter before that, and previous form behind Special John at Exeter reads particularly well in the context of this race. He provides the danger ahead of River Run Free who is also likely to be in the mix.
5.20 – Three mile Handicap Hurdle
In an open race An Buachaill Rua isn’t a confident selection given the competitive nature of this handicap hurdle, but he makes a lot of sense. Sheila Lewis’ charge has taken its form to a new level this year and proved a smooth Ludlow success was no fluke when finishing a neck second at Bangor.
He makes more appeal than Cote D’ange and Kantagua Du Large.
