Firefighters were called to Day’s Motorpark on Swansea Road, Gorseinon, at around 2:15pm on Thursday.
A number of buildings in the vicinity were evacuated as the emergency services dealt with the incident. Five fire engines and a specialist appliance were sent to the scene along with police.
A 25-year-old man – sustained injuries as a result of the fire but those injuries are not thought to be serious, according to a police spokesman.
The blaze is believed to have been caused accidentally, but it has caused severe damage to a large number of vehicles.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said:
“Officers were called to Swansea Road, Gorseinon at 2:15pm this afternoon [Thursday, August 29] following a report of a fire. A number of campervans and other vehicles have sustained fire damage.”
“A 25-year-old man has received attention from paramedics but has sustained no serious injuries.”
“Officers have assisted the Fire Service with traffic management in the surrounding area. A section of Swansea Road has been closed to through traffic. Buildings in the vicinity of the fire have been evacuated as a precaution.”
Pictures from the scene showed large amounts of black smoke rising into the air from the site, which is on the B4560/Swansea Road and a short distance from the M4. Firefighters were in attendance for more than two and a half hours in total, leaving the area at 4.50pm.
A statement from Mid & West Wales service said:
“At 2.10pm on Thursday, August 29th, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Gorseinon, Swansea Central, Swansea West, Port Talbot, Llanelli, Morriston and Carmarthen Fire Stations were called to an incident on Swansea Road in Gorseinon.
“Crews responded to a large fire involving a number of motorhomes that were parked in an external car park. Crews utilised four breathing apparatus sets, three main jets, three hose reel jets and five thermal imaging cameras to extinguish the fire.
“Seven motorhomes were completely destroyed by fire with a further six damaged by fire, four private motor vehicles, eight vans and one minibus were also damaged by the fire. One small outbuilding measuring approximately 4metres by 8metres and one shipping container were also damaged by the fire.
“Crews left the scene at 4.50pm. The fire is believed to have been caused accidentally.”
