Thomas Morgan, of Penyrheol Road, Gorseinon, is accused of murdering Jensen‑Lee Dougal at an address in Clydach on 30 March 2024.

At a hearing on Friday 5 September, defence barrister John Hipkin KC asked that Morgan not be arraigned until defence reports had been prepared, describing the matter as a “tragic and difficult case”.

The court was told the case will return on 17 October for what is expected to be a more substantive plea and trial preparation hearing.

The trial, which had been due to start on 6 January 2026, is now scheduled to begin on 19 January before High Court judge Mrs Justice Stacey. Prosecutor Caroline Rees KC applied for the custody time limit to be extended to 26 January to allow for the change in trial date, which was granted by Judge Paul Thomas KC.

Morgan was further remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
