South Wales Police are appealing for information regarding a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on Cwmavon Road, Port Talbot, at 1:45pm Tuesday, December 26.
15-year-old Preston Camps, from Port Talbot, died as a result of injuries in the accident.
Tributes have been paid by the friends and family of the teenager who has been described as “an incredible boy” and a “delight to be around”.
Head teacher John Felton of St Joseph’s Catholic School where Preston was a year 11 student said on his unexpected and tragic passing:
“We are deeply saddened by the news of the tragic and unexpected passing of one of our Year 11 pupils, Preston Camps.
“Preston was a wonderful pupil, incredibly polite and smiled throughout his time in St. Joseph’s Catholic School & Sixth Form Centre. He will be sorely missed.”
“Eternal rest grant unto Preston, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.”
Preston’s former employer, Bayview Aluminium, also paid tribute on Social Media :
“We were lucky to spend two days a week with him. The two days he was with us, were filled with smiles and happiness. We all looked forward to a Wednesday and Thursday when he was in.”
“On the last day before Christmas, Preston who was a delight to the world, brought every member of the team a Christmas card in.
“He hand-wrote each card with ‘Merry Christmas’ and said thank you for everything you taught me.”
Preston’s school is opening its chapel from 10am-2pm on Thursday and Friday for visitors to light a candle or make an entry into a condolence book.
Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have any dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident or prior to the collision.
