The Welsh region’s 38-28 victory over the Emirates Lions in Johannesburg on Sunday had guaranteed a home tie in the first knock-out stage of the competition by finishing in third position in Pool 2.
With primary ground owners Swansea City Football Club playing away at Middlesbrough on that weekend it was expected the tie against the English league club would be played at the Swansea.com Stadium.
However, having enjoyed success on and off the pitch played in front of a sellout crowd in their New Year’s Day clash with Cardiff, Toby Booth’s side will once again host at the smaller venue with a similar capacity support expected for the highly anticipated fixture.
An Ospreys statement said: “On the back of the positive feedback we received from supporters after we beat Cardiff there, we’ve decided to go back to the Brewery Field.
“We’ll look to not only recreate the electric atmosphere and exceptional rugby that thrilled supporters at our New Year’s Day derby, but put on an even better event as we host our opponents from England.”
New chief executive Lance Bradley had earlier this month comment that the region was looking to move away from the Swansea.com Stadium on a permanent basis, expressing the need to be based at a smaller venue for atmospheric purposes amongst others.
