PEMBREY: Bugatti Chiron and McRae’s Subaru head for Welsh Motorsport & Supercar Festival

A Bugatti Chiron, Colin McRae’s championship-winning Subaru and a live Q&A with rally boss David Richards head to Pembrey Circuit on Sunday for the third Welsh Motorsport & Supercar Festival.

The Carmarthenshire event returns on Sunday 13 September, after an inaugural festival marking the anniversary of Ayrton Senna’s record lap drew 6,000 people in 2024 and last year’s second edition brought world rally champion Petter Solberg to west Wales.

The hypercar display leads this year’s line-up, with a McLaren P1 GTR, Mercedes-AMG Project ONE, Aston Martin Valhalla and Bugatti Chiron confirmed, cars organisers say are rarely seen together in one place.

McRae’s Subaru and the co-driver who built Prodrive

Prodrive brings cars from its heritage collection, including the Ford Escort RS1800 from Ari Vatanen and David Richards’ 1981 World Rally Championship-winning campaign.

Alongside it sits Colin McRae’s 1996 Group A Subaru Impreza, driven to victory at Rally Catalunya as Subaru sealed a second consecutive world manufacturers’ title.

Richards, who co-drove Vatanen to that 1981 title before founding Prodrive and becoming chairman of Motorsport UK, takes to the Pembrey Stage for a live Q&A on the drivers, cars and moments of a life in international motorsport.

Demo runs, MotoGP bikes and five-tonne racing trucks

The circuit will be in action throughout the day, with demonstration runs from classic and modern racing cars, MotoGP and Moto2 bikes, and rally and rallycross machinery.

Two British Truck Racing Championship machines join them, 333 Motorsport drivers Neil Yates and Steve Powell demonstrating their 1250bhp, five-tonne MAN TGs, with Powell challenging for this year’s BTRC title and Yates chasing a first podium.

Beyond the track, the paddock holds supercar and hypercar zones, classic car collections, rally cars, race teams, a trade village, autojumble and food stalls, with displays from automotive companies based in and around Wales alongside vehicles from across the UK and abroad.

Live music on the Pembrey Stage comes from the 2 Eds and the Bar Hounds, with a funfair, kids’ rides and food and drink stalls for families.

Tickets

Advance tickets are £22 for adults and £8 for teens aged 13 to 15, with children 12 and under going free, and well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome for this event.

A limited number of camping places are available, with organisers noting a camping ticket does not include entry and an admission ticket must be bought separately.
