Heron Foods Ltd have submitted plans for a 395 sq.m express format supermarket on the site of the former Bryn Nursery School on Townhill Road.

The budget supermarket chain, owned by discount store B&M has submitted a new plan for the site after an earlier application was refused by city planners in June.

While the previous application located the store at the front of the site fronting onto Townhill Road, the new application positions the store further back on the plot.

The new application also features car parking for 16 vehicles along with cycle parking facilities.

Entrance to the site will be from Tower Gardens to the side of the development.

In a planning statement Heron Foods said the application represents “the first phase of an opportunity to regenerate a presently vacant and unsightly brownfield site and provide a new retail facility to support the Graiglwyd Square local centre.”

Heron Foods declined to comment further on the plans at this stage.
