Former Wales wing Evans, 30, is one of a list of departing players released on Friday which included Shaun Evans, Charlie Titcombe, Efan Jones and Ed Scragg.
Evans has made 190 appearances since making his debut against Zebre in November 2014 and has scored 74 tries for the West Wallians. He is currently the joint-highest Welsh try-scorer in United Rugby Championship history alongside team-mate Gareth Davies, with the pair lying fifth on the all-time list.
An international for his country on 13 occasions, Evans played a pivotal role in the 2017 Pro12 title success for the Scarlets, scoring a memorable try in the final victory against Munster in Dublin.
This season, however, chances have been hard to come by for Evans after battling back to from a serious Achilles injury on Judgement last season after making his comeback in the win over Edinburgh in January.
Reflecting on his time with the Scarlets Evans said:
“I have also made so many great friends over the years, been fortunate to have played alongside some amazing players and tested myself against some of the best players in the world.
“Every game here was a joy to play in.
“Winning that final in Dublin, the rugby we played that season leading up to that final was on a different level – reaching semi-finals in Europe was also right up there.”
Speaking on Evans upcoming departure head coach Dwayne Peel said:
“There aren’t many players who have played close to 200 games for this club in the professional era.
“Steff has been a big part of this club for a long time, a local boy who came through the age-grade pathway here to become a great Scarlet.
“His current ranking as one of the leading try-scorers in the history of the league says it all.
“He has delivered a string of memorable moments in a Scarlets jersey, some incredible tries that our supporters will cherish, especially during the season when we went on to win the title in Dublin.
“He has been a great clubman, a popular member of our squad who has set standards for the young players coming through.”
“I am sure our supporters will all show their appreciation after the game on Saturday. We all wish Steff and his family the very best with whatever comes next.”
