Casey Coughlin scored four goals as Tîm Rhanbarthol Cymru opened their UEFA Regions’ Cup intermediate round campaign with a 7-0 win over Bitola.
The Pure Swansea striker was one of three players from the Sketty Lane club in Gruff Harrison’s squad for the tournament in Bosnia and Herzegovina, alongside full-back Dan Ingram and winger Mason Kelly.
Wales made short work of the North Macedonian representative side at the Mladost Stadium in Kakanj.
Pontypridd United forward Jack Jones opened the scoring after 17 minutes, combining with club team-mate Ethan Edwards to finish with accuracy, before the roles were reversed four minutes later as Edwards doubled the advantage from a Jones pass.
Coughlin then struck twice before the break, in the 38th and 42nd minutes, to send Wales in 4-0 up.
Pontypridd centre-back Clayton Farrah, who was dominant throughout, added a fifth in the 79th minute before Coughlin completed his hat-trick four minutes later, again set up by Jones.
The striker had the final say in stoppage time, Kelly providing the assist for his fourth of the afternoon.
The three points and the goal difference give Harrison’s side a perfect start in Group 1.
The tournament moves quickly, with three group games inside a week. Wales face Cilicia of Armenia on Saturday.
Coughlin’s four takes his tally to nine goals in seven games this season, having already scored five for Pure in the Novira Cymru South, including a hat-trick at Baglan Dragons.
The three call-ups have forced Pure to postpone their league fixtures against Newport City and Carmarthen Town, with new dates to be announced. Jack Midwinter’s side return to action at home to Pontardawe Town on Friday 11 September.
Tîm Rhanbarthol Cymru XI
