Pure Swansea lost for the first time this season, as Ynyshir Albion came from behind to beat them 4-2 at the Ynyshir Oval on Saturday.

Forward Joseff Haig scored twice for the hosts, and the defeat knocks Jack Midwinter’s side off the top of the table.

Three goals in the first ten minutes in the Rhondda

There were three goals in a frantic opening ten minutes. In-form Haig put Ynyshir ahead.

Pure then went in front, with striker Casey Coughlin’s eighth of the season and a strike from midfielder Tom Johnston.

Centre-half Kai Crossley levelled for the Buns close to half-time, popping up from defence to fire home a superb volley from Cory Morgan’s cross.

Scott Jones penalty on his 300th appearance

Ynyshir took the lead again shortly after the break, through Crossley’s centre-back partner Scott Jones.

The club veteran, making his 300th appearance for the Buns, scored from the penalty spot to complete the turnaround.

Joseff Haig double, then a straight red card

In a back-and-forth game, the next goal looked vital, and it went to the hosts.

Man of the match Haig, who scored a hat-trick against Llanelli last month, added his second of the afternoon and fifth of the season to make it 4-2.

Ynyshir finished with ten men, after substitute Dre Griffiths was shown a straight red card in ugly scenes.

Pontypridd United top as Pure drop to fourth

Pontypridd United are the new leaders of the Novira Cymru South, after a 4-0 win over bottom side Llanelli, and Pure drop to fourth.

Ynyshir move up to fifth, five points behind Pontypridd.

Three points now separate the top four, and Aberystwyth, Pure and Ynyshir all have two games in hand on third-placed Caerau Ely and Pontypridd.

It was Pure’s first game in three weeks, after their home game against Treowen Stars on 24 October was called off because of the weather. Their last outing ended in a 5-5 draw at Afan Lido, where they came from 4-1 down to lead 5-4.

Cardiff Draconians next at the Sports Park

Pure will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host struggling Cardiff Draconians at Swansea Bay Sports Park on Saturday 7 November (2pm kick-off).

Pure Swansea: Kane Draper, Dan Ingram, Harvey Chapman, Jacob Lund, Zac Brown, Jordan Hughes (capt) (Kurtis March 83), Tom Johnston, Dan Williams (Ricky Kerr 70), Mason Kelly, Kyle Copp (Bradley Gibbings 60), Casey Coughlin.
