Andrew Wager, 38, of Illtyd Street, Neath, raped and sexually assaulted his then-15-year-old victim while at a party at his home.
Swansea Crown Court heard that for most of the attack the young victim pretended to be asleep.
Judge Geraint Walters told the defendant he had taken advantage of a young girl who had become unwell at a party in a “dreadful” way. He said the teenager had been physically sick and was “not in a good place” when Wager assaulted her.
Sending the 38-year-old father-of-two to prison the Judge said in the experience of the court the consequences of the kind of things the defendant did to the teenager can last a lifetime.
Wager denied committing the offences, but was found guilty by the jury.
He has been sentenced to seven years in prison and was made the subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. He will be a registered sexual offender for the rest if his life.
Detective Constable Alison Thomas said:
“Andrew Wager is a dangerous predator who raped and sexually assaulted his helpless child victim.
“The amount of lasting damage he has caused to his victim cannot be put into words.
“He will now rightfully serve a significant term in prison.”
