Simply Red will play Singleton Park next summer, in what promoters say will be the band’s only Welsh show of 2027.
Mick Hucknall and the band are the first act named for Singleton Live, the new concert series announced for the park last week. The date is Friday 20 August 2027.
They won’t be alone. Lisa Stansfield, of All Around the World fame, and Heather Small, the voice of M People, are both on the bill.
The pre-sale opens at 10am on Tuesday 22 September, and fans need to sign up beforehand at singletonlive.com/simplyred.
General sale follows later in the week.
When the series launched, Swansea Council said subscribers to the Visit Swansea Bay e-newsletter would also be sent a pre-sale code.

The show is part of the band’s Summer Funk ’27 tour of the UK and Europe. Promoters are promising Fairground, Something Got Me Started and Money’s Too Tight (To Mention) in a set drawn from more than 40 years of records.
Hucknall said fans could expect “a set full of Simply Red upbeat hits to get you on your feet having fun in the sun with friends and family”.
“We can’t wait to get back out on the road again in summer 2027 to perform at some incredible and historic venues across the UK and Europe,” he said.
The band have had five number one albums and a number one single. Their 1991 album Stars was the best-selling album in Britain for two years running. The tour follows a sold-out 40th anniversary run in 2025.

Singleton Live was unveiled on 8 September as a partnership between the council and promoters DEPOT Live, Full Fat 360 and Cuffe & Taylor, with every act billed as a Wales exclusive.
It marks the return of big outdoor gigs to a park that has hosted Stereophonics, Madness and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. In 2018 it staged BBC Music’s Biggest Weekend, with Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.
DEPOT Live is the company behind Cardiff’s Blackweir concerts, which it says have brought The Cure, Stevie Wonder and Lewis Capaldi to the capital.
Its founder, Nick Saunders, said: “We couldn’t ask for a better first headliner, and securing their only Welsh show of 2027 for Singleton Live makes it even more special.”
Council leader Rob Stewart said Simply Red were “the perfect artist to launch this exciting new concert series”.
“Singleton Park has a long and proud history of hosting world-class live music, and this announcement marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the park,” he said.
He added that it was “just the first of more announcements still to come”.
Under the partnership, the council has said a share of the fees will go to the city’s grassroots music venues.
