Swansea City could be in line for more than £9 million from Manchester City if the reported guilty verdict in the Premier League’s 115-charge case stands, according to betting site OLBG.
The site has recalculated the prize money paid out in every Premier League season since 2011/12 as if City had never been in the table, and puts the Swans’ share of the difference at £9,107,386.
That is money OLBG estimates Swansea missed out on across their seven top-flight seasons, from 2011/12 to relegation in 2018.
Cardiff City, who managed two Premier League seasons in the same spell, would be due £3,154,601 on the same sums, taking the combined figure for the two Welsh clubs past £12.2 million.
Man City guilty on 114 of 115 charges, The Athletic reports
The Athletic reported on Friday that an independent commission had found City guilty on 114 of the 115 charges brought by the Premier League in February 2023.
The charges relate to alleged breaches of the league’s financial rules between 2009 and 2018, a spell in which City won three Premier League titles.
Sanctions have not yet been decided, and the club is expected to appeal. Under the league’s rules, the options range from an unlimited fine to a points deduction or even expulsion from the league.
Manchester City have always denied wrongdoing, and in a statement reported by The Athletic the club said the “Premier League process remains ongoing”.

OLBG’s figures are based on merit payments, the slice of Premier League prize money that depends on where a club finishes in the table.
City finished above the Swans in every one of their seven Premier League seasons. Take City out of the tables and Swansea move up a place each year, with extra money for every place.
OLBG puts the Swans’ merit payments over the period at £72,554,716, and its reworked tables add £9.1m on top.
That sum would cover more than two fifths of the £21.6m loss in the club’s latest accounts, for 2024-25, a year in which the owners put in £21m to keep the club funded.
Everton top a £527m Premier League bill
Everton top OLBG’s table at £28.9m, and the site says 38 clubs across the Premier League and EFL would be due something, with the total put at more than £527m.
Those wider totals run to the end of last season, well beyond the 2009 to 2018 period the charges cover, and use estimated figures for 2025/26 because the league has not yet published them. The Swans’ figure comes entirely from seasons inside that period.
OLBG calls its figures an estimate, and no ruling has been made that any club is owed anything. The site suggests merit money could be only the start, pointing to possible claims over lost finals, European places and sponsorship.
The Swans already have one Manchester City connection this season, with 17-year-old winger Jeremy Monga on loan from the Etihad.
High-flying Swansea went into the international break top of the Championship, two points clear of West Ham.
If Vitor Matos’ side keep that up, they could be back in the Premier League next season for the first time since relegation in 2018. They return to action at home to Norwich City on Saturday 10 October.
