A free street food festival returns to Museum Green, next to the National Waterfront Museum, next weekend, with around 20 traders and a bar built around Welsh drinks.

Big Food Festival runs from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 September, from 11am to 9.30pm, with last entry at 8pm.

Entry is free. Full details, including how to book, are on the festival’s website at bigfoodfestival.co.uk.

The site is family and dog friendly, with live music and entertainment across the three days.

The traders coming to Museum Green

The organisers say every trader is chosen by them, and that no two stalls serve the same cuisine.

Named so far are Fire & Flank, Burger Bros, Alla Greek and 2 Lads Afghan, with Try Crumble and Custard on dessert.

The bar will pour drinks from Tiny Rebel, Mortal Bunny, Gwynt y Ddraig and Au Vodka.

From the Gnoll to six festivals a year

Big Food Festival was set up in 2025 by Maria Gania and Stephanie Silva, and held its first event at Gnoll Country Park in Neath.

It ran three events in its first year and six this year, including an Easter event in Swansea. The founders say they plan more in 2027, across Wales and possibly into the south west of England.

Maria Gania, co-founder and event director, said: “We started Big Food Festival because we wanted a community day out where the food is brilliant and nobody pays just to walk through the gate.”

“Swansea has such a strong food scene, so we can’t wait to bring the whole BFF crew down for the weekend,” she said.

Stephanie Silva, co-founder and site manager, said: “We choose every trader ourselves and make sure there’s no doubling up on cuisines.”

“It means people can come down, try something new at every stall and leave planning their next visit,” she said.
