A knicker nicker who twice raided Ann Summers on Whitewalls has been jailed.

Wayne Rogers, 43, from the city centre in Swansea, admitted a string of shop thefts and handling stolen goods. South Wales Police said he was jailed on Wednesday (October 14).

Officers said Rogers walked into Ann Summers on April 8 and left with underwear worth £64. Three days later he was back for seven lingerie sets worth £77, the force said.

The same afternoon’s shoplifting took him on to Slaters on Princess Way, where police said he stole four shirts worth £140.

Four months for a pair of stolen Nike trainers

Rogers was jailed for 12 weeks for the thefts and ordered to pay £282 in compensation to the two stores, according to the force.

Police said he also pleaded guilty in October to handling stolen goods, after receiving a pair of Nike trainers he knew to be stolen. He was sentenced to four months in prison on Wednesday, the force said.

The city centre policing team has been going after repeat shoplifters this year: in April a one-man crime wave who hit 13 city centre shops in a month was jailed for 24 weeks.

Sergeant Emyr Price said: “Tackling shoplifting in our city centre is an important priority for the City NPT.”

“Sadly, Wayne Rogers has continued to offend and involve himself in criminality, without a thought for the damage this causes to businesses in the city,” he added.
