South Wales Police say 25-year-old Saif Ali, from the city centre, was observed travelling at speed by patrolling officers in the area of Dyfatty Road on October 27 2024.

After stopping, the vehicle was searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act due to a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle, which was also linked to previous incidences of drug supply.

Police say five bags containing white powder were found during a search of Ali’s vehicle. A search was then conducted at his home address, during which a further three small bags of white powder were located, along with working scales covered in white residue and six bags of Taurine. Between the home address and the vehicle, £1,080.00 cash was seized in total.

He has been sentenced to 28 months in prison for possession with intent to supply cocaine and cannabis.

Sergeant Craig Evans from South Wales Police said: “Saif Ali was clearly using his vehicle and home address in order to conduct his drug supply operation.

“It is obvious that his only concern was financial gain through selling illegal substances to others, and that he did not care whatsoever about the impact those substances would have upon those using them and the wider community.

“This sentence should be seen as a clear message that drug supply does not pay. You will be identified and caught, and you will end up in prison as a result.”
