A new functional fitness gym is opening its doors in Swansea, with a free launch weekend for anyone who wants to give it a try.
Elysium Training Club opens at SA1 Business Park on Saturday 4 July, offering coached classes, weightlifting and open gym sessions for all levels.
For anyone familiar with CrossFit or Hyrox-style training, the new gym promises dedicated coaching, strength and conditioning, Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics and skill work.

It has been set up by co-founders Peter Crudge and Andrew Finnegan, who registered Elysium Training Club as a company earlier this year. Crudge, a Swansea coach, holds a degree in sports fitness and coaching along with CrossFit, personal training and British Weightlifting qualifications, according to the gym.
The gym says its sessions are designed to suit everyone from complete beginners and those returning to training to regular gym-goers and competitive athletes, with every class coached and scalable.
Its weekly timetable will take in structured classes, strength and conditioning, Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics and skill development, “engine” conditioning sessions and open gym access.

The free launch weekend runs across 4 and 5 July. On the Saturday, coached sessions are scheduled for 9am and 10.30am, each pairing a lifting piece with a partner workout, followed by an open gym.
On the Sunday, the gym will be open from 10.30am to noon, with coffee available on site afterwards from a local coffee operator.
From Monday 6 July, Elysium will move to a seven-days-a-week timetable.
Crudge said he wanted the gym to be welcoming to beginners as well as experienced athletes.
“I want it to be a place where beginners feel welcomed rather than intimidated, experienced athletes are challenged properly and everyone receives the coaching, structure and support they need to improve,” he said.
He said the venture had “grown from wanting to bring a community together”, with every class coached and scalable rather than leaving people to work things out alone.
The gym is offering a “Founding 50” membership to its first 50 members, including early access and a lower launch price.
It is the latest addition to a busy local fitness scene, after a Cwmdu gym was recently named Swansea’s business of the year and three Carmarthenshire gyms were brought together in a £500,000 deal late last year.
Elysium Training Club can be found at Unit 6, SA1 Business Park, with more details available through the gym’s social media.
