Gas utility company, Wales and West Utilities had been working outside the school, but misspelt the word School with ‘Shcool‘ on the road markings as they were finishing construction work.

Pictures of the obvious mistake soon spread around social media, and have been reported in media outlets as far away as Australia.

Swansea Council leader, Rob Stewart was quick to distance the council from the error, saying that there would be “red faces all round at WWU”.

Phil Whittier from Wales and West Utilities said: “We completed our work today and replaced the road outside Llangyfelach Primary School where we had been digging.

“Contractors working on our behalf then replaced the road markings where we had been working and, unfortunately, have misspelt the word ‘school’.

‘The team are returning tomorrow morning to replace the markings with the correct letters and we are confident the teachers will give them full marks this time.”
