The Toy Retailers Association has announced it is recruiting a panel of eight children from across the country to help test the toys tipped to be the biggest sellers this Christmas. For the first time, children from Swansea will be eligible to apply.

The chosen testers, aged between 3 and 15, will travel to London on Saturday 8 November to try out the 15 toys selected for the prestigious DreamToys list – the UK’s most authoritative prediction of the must‑have toys for Christmas.

Not only will the children get to play with the toys before anyone else, they’ll also get to take all 15 toys home – just in time for Christmas.

A child’s seal of approval

The DreamToys list is usually chosen by a panel of independent toy retailers and industry experts. This year, for the first time, the experts will be joined by children themselves, giving the list an official “child‑approved” stamp of authority.

Paul Reader, Chairman of the DreamToys Selection Panel, said:

“The DreamToys list has always been about capturing the magic and excitement of the festive season, as well as guiding gift givers on toys that are certain to spark creativity and imagination.

This year, we’re taking that a step further by inviting children from Swansea to become Mini Toy Testers, because who better to give the toys the final stamp of approval than those who will actually be playing with them?”

How to apply

Applications are open now for children in Swansea aged 3–15. Parents or guardians can apply on their child’s behalf via the Toy Retailers Association website at www.toyretailersassociation.co.uk/mini-toy-testers.
