Read on for a full report of the Ffos Las card, with horse racing odds from BOYLE Sports.
The evening kicked off with an extended seven-furlong nursery handicap (6.00). In what was an open-looking race, the James Owen-trained Ariane Sky was the favourite at 4/1 and left little in doubt from the off, making all and winning by half a length. 10/1 topweight Parading was second, followed by 16/1 Magical Life.
In the second race, another handicap over the same trip (6.30), the market was much tighter at the top, with Distinct Spirit as the 2/7 favourite. In the four-runner race, his next closest market rival was Flyta at 7/2, while the other two runners were both double figure odds. Despite carrying topweight by a fair margin, the favourite led the field to a comfortable win of nearly two lengths.
Race three was a classified stakes race over a mile (7.00). Knightmare was the main fancy here a 6/5, but he became the first market leader of the day to get beaten. 6/1 Create was instead the winner, having taken the lead from the favourite with a furlong left to travel, eventually winning by a length.
Favourites were back in business for race four, the mile and a half maiden fillies’ race (7.30), as Summerson won as hot 11/10 favourite in another four-runner contest. Her success was quite remarkable, as she beat the able-looking runner-up Seacole by an unprecedented 13 lengths. Her career will be something to follow over the next few seasons.
In the penultimate race, a mile and a half handicap (8.00), we had a surprise result. The joint market leaders could do no better than eighth and fifth, leaving the prominent-running outsider Noble Grace to keep on into the lead at long odds of 40/1 under Rob Hornby for Warren Greatrex. 33/1 Trojan Truth was next, followed by 18/1 Buck Barrow in third and 22/1 Virtual Hug in fourth.
Last of all was a six-furlong handicap (8.30). One final winning favourite rounded off proceedings as 15/8 Legendsoftheland finished as the winner for Adrian Wintle, having run on well in the final furlong to beat 7/1 runner-up Macarone. My Mate Beattie was third at 11/1.
