Founded by Penclawdd-based Russel Uchenna ‘Ochay’ Mbah and his partner Sarah ‘Jayde’ Anderson – proud residents of the Gower, their platform has been born out of a deep connection to the people, places, and flavours that make the Gower community so special.

Their mission is simple but powerful: to make the best of the Gower accessible to everyone while championing local businesses and supporting the community.

In times where local businesses have struggled, their mission is one that is both admirable and likely to be well received amongst local residents by providing a connection for the Gower community to distribute and showcase the best food and drinks the area has to offer.

Ochay says the idea for Gower Eats came about from countless moments spent with friends and family in local pubs and cafés, while taking in the breathtaking views that the Gower is known for.

“Being part of such a close-knit community, I realised how much of our culture revolves around food and shared experiences and how important it is to make those experiences accessible to everyone,” explained Ochay to Swansea Bay News.

“It is a very difficult time in our economy. Local businesses are going through it at the moment. We feel we can unite and support and also provide jobs.

“Whether it’s delivering a favorite pub classic, a café treat, or something new to discover, Gower Eats is here to bridge that gap and make food accessible to everyone in the close proximity.

“We want to incorporate the local farms, butchers, etc.

“Gower Eats is more than just a delivery platform; it’s a celebration of local businesses and the community spirit that binds us together – our cultures, our flavours and our values.

“By supporting Gower Eats, you’re not just getting a meal—you’re contributing to the growth and sustainability of the local economy.

“One of the biggest values we have as a community is supporting and being there for each other to sustain ourselves.

“With an easy-to-use app and a dedication to quality service, we’re proud to make every meal memorable and every connection stronger.

“We want us to grow together and bring the Gower’s best to every doorstep, one delivery at a time.”

Partner Jayde has been working tirelessly with Ochay on promotion of the new business and on the consultation side with local businesses as the big launch comes ever closer.

She explains that Gower Eats will fill a gap in the market to connect businesses, holidaymakers and residents to the local industry.

“At the moment, you can’t get any deliveries down to the Gower,” says Jayde.

“It is a pretty rural area and if you want something to eat or drink you do have to drive.

“There are a lot of holiday homes, caravan sites, wedding venues and people go to the beach.

“Especially in the summer months, bank holidays, or Christmas shops where shops are closing earlier, maybe this platform could offer a takeaway side where people can order what they want.

“We will be launching on February 13. That day particularly because it holds a special meaning for us. It’s a special remembrance of that day which had a significant impact on our lives.

“The app is all ready to use and will be launched on that day. There will be the merchant app, driver app and the customer app which we have had to integrate.”

The Gower community have taken to idea well with many showing interest in advertising on the Gower Eats website, while Ochay says there have been plenty of local interest in driver jobs.

Whilst the business will be primarily aimed at the Gower end of custom on launch, both Ochay and Jayde can see it expanding further in the future.

“We’ve had a hearty welcome within the Gower community,” continued Ochay.

“My partner and I put up a post the other day on Instagram and we had many views – mostly from our locals which the response has been good.

“A lot of the businesses that we are working with we currently have the drivers within the villages to do deliveries.

“Our vision right now is for the Gower. So, we will be targeting from Gowerton and Waunarlwydd, through to Penclawdd, Llanrhidian, Llanmorlais, the Gower Peninsula, Rhossili and that area.

“We want to focus on that area for now to connect to all the local pubs, cafes and the community first of all, but we do plan then to expand.

“But the main plan is the keep the money in the community”

Gower Eats will be launching on February 13 with the service accessed via their website here and an app which will be available on the week of launch.
