RNLI’s St David’s inshore lifeboat was called to the dramatic rescue on Monday (27 March) around 11am at the bottom of cliffs between St Nons and Caerfai Bay.
The volunteer crew were assisted by the coastguard in locating Bosun the dog, who after a short boat-ride, was reunited with his family at Porthclais Harbour.

Will Chant, RNLI Coxswain for St Davids RNLI lifeboat, says: “Bosun gave his owners quite a fright when he chased a rabbit over a cliff edge, but thankfully he was unharmed and relieved to see the crew.
“Bosun’s owners did the right thing in calling 999 for assistance rather than attempting to rescue. When walking on coast paths, we recommend that dogs are kept on short leads to avoid risk of them falling over cliff faces.”
