NPTC GROUP: Pass rate above 99% as college celebrates results across its campuses

Students across NPTC Group of Colleges are celebrating an overall A level pass rate of more than 99%, the college says.

More than half of its students secured A* to B grades, according to the college, with over a quarter achieving A* or A.

Over three-quarters of students attained grades A* to C, it said.

The college group, whose campuses span Neath Port Talbot and Powys, reported particularly strong results on its Gifted and Talented Excellence programme, known as GATE.

44% of GATE students achieved A* grades, the college said, with 88% at A* or A, and every student on the programme securing A* to B.

Its vocational students achieved 145 Distinction* and Distinction grades, which the college says are equivalent to A* and A grades at A level.

In the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales, 397 students achieved the qualification, with 87% securing grades between A* and C.

The college said many students are now progressing to their first-choice universities, with others preparing to enter employment, apprenticeships or further study.

Mark Dacey, the college’s chief executive, said: “Today is about celebrating our students and everything they have achieved.”

“These results represent months, and in many cases years, of hard work, determination and ambition. Whether our learners are progressing to university, starting an apprenticeship, beginning a career or continuing their education, they should be incredibly proud of what they have accomplished.”

He also thanked staff, who he said had “created a culture where students are inspired to achieve their very best”.

“We know that results day is not the end of the journey; it is the beginning of an exciting new chapter,” he said. “Whatever path our learners choose next, we are proud to have been part of their success and look forward to seeing what they go on to achieve.”

Across Wales, 97.7% of A level students achieved A* to E this year, up on 2025, with top grades rising for the third year running.

Elsewhere in the region, Gower College Swansea reported a 100% pass rate for the second year in a row.

GCSE results follow next Thursday, 20 August.
