James, 31, had been missing since December 2, with multiple appeals launched to establish his whereabouts.
Officers investigating his disappearance previously appealed for anybody who may have private CCTV or dashcam footage to check it for James.
The force say that James has been formally identified this week and his family have been informed.
A statement from South Wales Police read:
“A body which was recovered from Stout Bay, Vale of Glamorgan on New Year’s Eve has this week been formally identified as that of 31-year-old James Teesdale, who has been missing from Swansea since December 2.
“James’s family have been informed and are being supported by officers.
“Thank you for sharing our appeal to find James.”
