More than 5,000 runners took on the Swansea Bay 10K on Sunday, and if you missed out, entries for next year’s race open this Wednesday.
It was the second year in a row the race has sold out, according to Swansea Council.
Next year’s race is on Sunday 12 September 2027.
Sunday’s race was the 45th, and the first from its new start and finish outside the Brangwyn Hall.
Runners headed along the seafront towards Mumbles and back, then into a new race village at the Guildhall Rotunda with live music, food and drink stalls, local traders and free sports massages.
Omar and Small take the Swansea Bay 10K titles
Kadar Omar won the men’s race in 29:03.
Louise Small won the women’s race in 33:04.
Owain Terrell won the wheelchair race in 29:35.
Hundreds of children also ran in the 1K and 3K junior races.
Water bottles recycled into foam rollers
Water came from hydration partner Brecon Carreg, and the council says the bottles will be recycled into foam rollers for athletes.
Other sponsors included JR Events, Day’s Rental and Day’s Motor Group, which provided the lead vehicle.
Council expects another rush for 2027 places
Cllr Andrew Williams, cabinet member for development at Swansea Council, said the race “continues to go from strength to strength”.
“This year’s race introduced a refreshed look and feel, alongside a new start location and race village, helping to create a fantastic atmosphere from start to finish,” he said.
He thanked the spectators who lined the route: “Their enthusiasm and support are a huge part of what makes this event so special.”
“Following two consecutive sell-out events and growing demand from both experienced and first-time runners, we expect places to be in high demand once again,” he said.
Council leader Rob Stewart congratulated everyone who took part, calling it “a fantastic day”.
