Wales’ new rugby kits are on sale today, with a dragon-patterned all-red home shirt and a white alternate inspired by Welsh slate.
The WRU and kit supplier Macron launched the 2026/27 jerseys this morning at the Welsh Rugby Store on Westgate Street and at the National Eisteddfod.
The home shirt is entirely red apart from the crest and sponsor logos, with a repeated dragon pattern stretching across the shoulders and sleeves.
The pattern carries onto the side panels of the shorts. The men’s shorts return to white, the women’s stay red, and both kits finish with red and white socks.
The alternate is mostly white with green trim, carrying a textured graphic drawn from Welsh slate across the jersey and shorts, finished with black accents.
Both designs will be worn by the senior men’s and women’s sides through the 2026/27 international season.
Replica shirts cost £85 for adults and £68 for juniors, with the authentic professional version at £118. They are available from the Westgate Street store, online at store.wru.co.uk and through selected retailers.
Tomos Grace, the WRU’s chief commercial officer, said the kits were “a celebration of who we are as a nation and what Welsh rugby stands for”.
“From the dragon on our home jersey to the slate-inspired design of the alternate kit, every detail has been created to reflect the pride, heritage and culture that make Wales unique,” he said.
The union says the launch marks a new creative direction, with players photographed styling the shirts alongside their own casual clothes rather than in traditional kit shots, a nod to how supporters wear the jersey away from matchday.
The partnership with Italian manufacturer Macron dates back to 2020.
Today’s launch completes the 2026/27 range, following last week’s release of the training and travel collection.
The white-and-green alternate is a departure from recent change kits, with the slate graphic celebrating an industry the union says shaped Wales’ landscape and communities for generations.
The kits arrive ahead of an autumn in which Welsh rugby’s attention has been split between the pitch and the WRU’s fight with its own regions over the west Wales licence.
For supporters, though, today is simpler: the new shirts are in the shops.
