Bridgend’s Parc Slip retains Green Flag award for third year
A haven for wildlife and a cherished community space in Bridgend has been honoured with a prestigious Green Flag Award.
The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales’ (WTSWW) Parc Slip Nature Reserve and Visitor Centre has retained a prestigious Green Flag award for a third year running.
The Green Flag Award is a symbol of excellence in publicly accessible green space management, recognising parks and green spaces that meet stringent criteria for environmental sustainability, community involvement, and visitor satisfaction.
Duncan Ludlow, Conservation Manager for WSTWW said, “For Parc Slip to be awarded the Green Flag for 3 years in a row is a fantastic achievement and is recognition of the hard work and dedication of all the WTSWW staff and volunteers, past and present. All of their efforts have contributed to the amazing nature reserve and visitor experience that we have today.”
Located at the base of the Llynfi Valley, Parc Slip Nature Reserve and Visitor Centre is one of WTSWW’s flagship reserves with strong links to its industrial past.
The 300 acres reserve is a remarkable natural sanctuary, encompassing sprawling meadows, broadleaved woodlands, and captivating wetlands. The reserve serves as a vital habitat for a diverse range of species, including rare and endangered wildlife, making it an invaluable conservation site.
Gina Gavigan, Marketing and Development Manager for WTSWW said, “We are thrilled to be acknowledged for our commitment to conservation, education and providing a memorable experience for all who visit. The Green Flag Award serves as an invitation for nature enthusiasts, families, and individuals alike to explore, discover, and appreciate the wonders of this remarkable Wildlife Trust nature reserve.”
