The Baglan Bombshells will be hosting at their Thorney Road headquarters on Sunday 31 August. An event which will bring together women’s touch rugby teams from across South Wales.
Touchfest II follows the successful inaugural women’s touch tournament held at Baglan RFC last year which saw 180 women take part and will also mark the Bombshell’s second anniversary since forming back in August 2023.
Teams will compete in the ‘VETS rules’ tournament for a winner’s trophy, plate, and cup – there will also be an award for player of the tournament.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Baglan Bombshell’s captain, Hannah Hunt, said:
“All of the teams in the area have really upped their game over the last 12 months so no doubt there will be some great skills on show,” said Hannah.
“The tournament was a great success last year, both on and off the pitch with the amount of support we received from sponsors and spectators – we can’t wait for another great day!”
This year the Bombshells have selected CHILL – Cancer Help In Local Lives – to support on the day. Over the past two years more than £1,600 has been raised for five charities at games and at social events, with The Alzheimer’s Society being supported at 2024’s tournament.
In addition, the Baglan Bombshells raised £4,040 for the Swansea Bay Health Charity as part of the Touched by Cancer – Ladies Touch Rugby Tournament, an event which aimed to raise funds for the South West Wales Cancer Centre at Singleton Hospital.
This was raised following a 24-hour Spinathon challenge held at Baglan RFC and resulted in the Bombshells receiving the award for Fundraising Champions 2025.
The team is currently seeking sponsorship to help support Touchfest II and also support the Bombshells going forward.
Bombshell’s committee member, Michelle Hall, said:
“We’d like to thank everyone who has sponsored us over the past two years – it has meant so much to us.
“We are also so grateful to the community who have supported our charity efforts which has seen more than £5,600 in total raised for charity.
“We’re now busy planning how we can make our next tournament another day to remember. We would appreciate any support from local businesses through sponsorship or from anyone who can lend a hand by volunteering or donating raffle prizes, so please do reach out if you can help.”
