Read on for a preview of and tips for the Ffos Las card, courtesy of Betano, who have all the horse racing odds.
6.20 – Five-furlong three-year-olds’ handicap
Arishka’s Dream is well treated on his all weather form but needs to prove his effectiveness on turf. But David Evans’ Guernsey Lady looks to be down to an attractive mark and is the choice after a good run at Bath last time.
Arctic Wind might have been strategically brought back down in trip here and, if so, it is at a nice mark and can handle a bit of cut in the ground.
6.50 – Seven-furlong two-year-olds’ novice race
There are five runners here, one of which is a debutant; Charlie Hills’ Galipi, who is nicely bred and represents a yard doing well with this age group.
But David Evans’ Persian Land can follow up on his debut victory at Hamilton. The recent rain is in his favour, and he was going away at the finish over 6f first time out, so he should improve for this extra distance despite a penalty.
Real Trouble looked in need of a stiffer test when midfield over 6f on debut and looks the obvious danger stepping up in trip
7.20 – One-mile handicap
Devious Devan was a winner on the all-weather at Wolverhampton last time in good style, overcoming a steady pace, and with the runner-up having won since, he looks very much the way to go here.
Sixfiveseven looks overpriced after a good midfield finish last time and is down a further two pounds here. He won’t mind the ground, even if there is rainfall, and could be a good each-way play.
Top weight Nakaaha holds no secrets from the handicapper but she has generally been in good form so is also respected.
7.50 – Mile-and-a-half three-year-olds’ handicap
Salkadan and Kelly Burn were both winners last time out and remain open to improvement despite a two-pound rise in the handicap since. They could be competitive again, particularly the latter, who has been consistent.
But it could be the turn of Willow Wood. The daughter of Wootton Bassett should have come on a good deal for her reappearance/handicap debut, and Ed Walker’s filly looks sure to relish this extra test of stamina.
8.20 – Mile-and-a-half classified stakes
This is a low-grade race, but selecting a winner in contests of this nature is still not straightforward. Change Of Fortune ran well last time at Lingfield on the all-weather and can handle a bit of softness in the ground too, so could be worth considering.
Preference, however, is for Buck Barrow, who goes well at this venue and hails from a yard in fine form.
8.50 – Mile-and-a-half handicap
Zambezi Magic is bottom of the betting but looks overpriced after a decent return to action at Lingfield. A winner at this track over 10-furlongs, he could run a serious race here and should have at least an each-way chance.
Premier warrants consideration, while Ghost Story is one to take seriously, too, after a promising spring return where she placed on the all-weather.
