Carmarthen jockey Ben Jones rode a treble at Ffos Las on Sunday, with just one winning favourite across the seven-race St David’s Day card.

Our report of the Ffos Las card is brought to you by BoyleSports, who provide all the horse racing betting.

We began with a three-mile novices’ handicap chase (2.00). This race only had three runners, of which the favourite was Wonder Of The Seas, who weakened before the second last fence and finished a distant third. The winner was Harriet Dickin’s The Grey Man, who made all and went unchallenged, eventually winning by a commanding 24 lengths under James Best.

Winner: The Grey Man (13/8)

Next was a two and a half mile maiden hurdle (2.30). Here, Ben Jones rode the first of his three winners aboard Ben Pauling’s Uptown Dandy, who raced prominently and kept on to win by over a length from the Rebecca Curtis-trained Inishcorker, the market leader, in second. Limerick Star was third.

Winner: Uptown Dandy (3/1)

Race three was a three-mile handicap hurdle (3.00). We had our sole winning favourite here, ridden again by Ben Jones for Kayley Woollacott: Sparkling Duke. The seven-year-old raced prominently and faced a challenge from Slim Marvel, but did enough to win by half a length.

Winner: Sparkling Duke (5/4F)

The fourth race was a two and a half mile handicap chase (3.30). Yet another favourite was beaten here as Face d’Music lost by just a short head in a battle to the line with Clive Boultbee-Brooks’ Arctic Conditions, a 5/1 shot under Richard Patrick. Hawk Stone was third at 7/1.

Winner: Arctic Conditions (5/1)

Following was a handicap hurdle over the same trip (4.00). Ionity was the hot favourite at 11/10, but was soundly beaten by Jane Williams’ Moorland Rambler, ridden by Ciaran Gethings. The eight-year-old made all and was unchallenged, winning by an eventual 19 lengths on the heavy ground.

Winner: Moorland Rambler (9/4)

Second to last was a two-mile handicap hurdle (4.30). Clive Boultbee-Brooks looked likely to have another winner here with Maestro Du Mesnil, the market leader, but was denied by Evan Williams’ Franky Blue, who made easy progress on the run-in to win by over six lengths.

Winner: Franky Blue (17/2)

Finally, racing concluded with a bumper (5.00). Ben Jones brought up his treble here on board the Tom Weston-trained Mojito Lido, who had raced in third but, when asked for effort, went clear inside the final furlong to finish 11 lengths ahead of the rest.

Winner: Mojito Lido (9/4)
