South Wales Police say the start of the Government’s new Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee (NPG) will see an increase in activity to tackle Anti-social behaviour.

The Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee is a national pledge to restore visible, accessible policing in every community by 2029. It places a renewed focus on prevention, visibility and public confidence.

This includes more police back on the beat, with visible, intelligence-led patrols in every local area, protected from redeployment; community-led policing with a named, contactable officer or PCSO for every neighbourhood; Professional excellence with a career pathway and proactive problem-solving training; a crackdown on anti-social behaviour – stronger tools and a lead officer in every force; and safer town centres with a focus on shoplifting, street theft and protecting retail workers.

South Wales Police say that from 30 June 2025 operational activity will increase throughout the summer across towns, parks, and beaches to ensure communities feel safe and respected.

In addition, by the end of summer, 70 new Neighbourhood Policing Officers will be on the streets of south Wales to provide a high-visibility reassurance to communities, with a focus on tackling persistent offenders of anti-social behaviour.

Assistant Chief Constable Joanna Maal said: “The boost of operational activity across our communities is part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring residents and businesses feel safe every day.

“I really encourage residents and businesses to take some time to familiarise themselves with their neighbourhood officer contact, take the opportunities to engage with them, provide vital information to assist in keeping communities safe.”
