The initiative allows people to borrow popular items that are useful for occasional DIY projects and family events.
Such available items include a drill, wheelbarrow, jet wash, hose pipe, electric screwdriver, carpet cleaning machine, a tent and a gazebo.
The project was started by Aled Davies, one of Neath Port Talbot Council’s Local Area Coordinators, who worked with Sandfields Library to bring the idea to life. In addition to supporting people in need in the community, Local Area Coordinators also help to start up local community groups that benefit local residents and help them to grow.

Services & Health, expressed her enthusiasm for the scheme:
“This outstanding initiative allows residents to borrow essential items rather than having to buy them, easing the financial strain during these challenging times. It not only saves money
but also contributes to reducing waste and promoting a greener, more sustainable way of living.
“Our Local Area Coordinators play a vital role in establishing community groups that benefit residents. Projects like this foster a stronger sense of community by supporting one another in meaningful ways.”
The Library of Things’ is open at Sandfields Library every Monday and Tuesday morning from 10 am to 12 pm.
